In July 2023, the first of four supermoons will occur, appearing brighter in the night sky than any other full moon this year. A supermoon happens when the moon is closer to the Earth in its orbit, making it slightly larger in appearance.
The July full moon is also known as the buck moon, named after male deer's antlers that grow during this time. Throughout the rest of 2023, there will be 13 full moons and several lunar and solar eclipses to observe, as well as various meteor showers.
