Octavio Dotel, a former Major League Baseball pitcher, tragically passed away after being rescued from the rubble of a collapsed nightclub. Dotel was one of over a hundred people affected by the roof collapse, which claimed the lives of at least 66 individuals.
Despite being rescued alive after more than 11 hours under debris, Dotel succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred expressed his condolences for the victims of the tragedy, highlighting the deep connection between baseball and the Dominican Republic.
Dotel, who had a successful 15-season career in the MLB and was inducted into the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame, leaves behind a legacy in the baseball community.
