US President Biden Denies Involvement in Prigozhin Rebellion Against Kremlin

US President Joe Biden has said that the US and NATO had no involvement in the armed rebellion against the Kremlin led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, Wagner Group leader of mercenaries. Prigozhin accused Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu of launching rocket attacks on his mercenary forces in Ukraine, leading to Wagner forces seizing the southern city of Rostov-on-Don and beginning their advance towards Moscow.

The presence of Wagner forces in Russia's war in Ukraine remains unclear. The president has spoken with key allies pledging support for Ukraine to fight off invasion by Russia, however, the fallout from the weekend remains uncertain.
